Get torrents out of your life, and use something much, much simpler and easier to use. Usenet!
File hosts. Yes they’re on the down side. Governments were upset with file hosts for sharing your information. However, some still exist and new ones are popping up all the time. This is still a viable method to share documents with other people.
That’s really about all there is out there right now. Usenet is the best answer however.
Easynews is called easy news for a reason. They include a web browser based usenet experience, somewhat like mimo from Giganews. So if you don’t want to mess around with newsreaders to view photos or download files, easynews might be for you.
Easynews is also a Tier-1 provider. They use separate servers and management versus the resellers. This means they will most likely be more reliable.
If you want a more advanced usenet experience with binaries and the like, you may want to get Usenet-news as a fill server/block account. Sabnzb would also be required. Easynews also offers only NNTP access, it’s only $10/month.
Test out the free trial and see if you like their interface. If not, it’s still a good place to pick up an unlimited NNTP account.
After rapidshare came out everything thought this was the “big” thing. Megaupload came out and bam. Then the government stepped in because it didn’t like people sharing their personal files online.
Where else can you share your files? USENET! It’s even more secure than file hosts for sending your personal documents to others. You don’t need multiple file hosting companies to get the files you want. Usenet is decentralized so there’s no way for one part to get shut down and for usenet to not exist anymore!
Usenet has been the primary file hosting method for decades. It’s completely underused. If you want to feed your file hosting addiction – the best place is to head on over to usenet. Read my Binary usenet tutorial and get started today.
Put an end to “chasing the dragon” with file hosts.
Newshosting offers a free 30GB trial so you can test it out for yourself, and see if it’s a good fit for you. Here’s a list of their features:
Free Usenet Browser
1362 Days Retention
Free SSL Encryption
100,000+ Text Discussion Groups
Newshosting is a Tier-1 service provider. This means they have separate servers and management than their resellers, which is good. Newshosting has an unlimited special offer for $10/month. So choosing Newshosting as your main unlimited account is a good idea.
I would recommend in the future adding a “fill server” or “block account” to newshosting from usenet-news IF you see a lot of incompletes. Some people will not see any incompletes, others do. This happens with all usenet servers, and it really depends on what you’re getting.
Of course, if you really want close to 100% completion on every single thing on usenet, you might consider adding usenet-news and astraweb together with Newshosting. This will completely get rid of incompletes for the most part in my experience.
Test out newshosting for yourself and see if it’s a good fit!
