Why Seedboxes are a Waste

Seedboxes are usually how people get digital items fast & easily with Torrents. The thing is, they can be a hassle. No matter what you have to maintain a seedbox to some degree and also watch your ratios.

Then you transfer the items from the seedbox to your local PC. Now, if you’re trying to get specialized items that are hard to find anywhere else, this might be worth it, but for the most part it’s not. Usenet is by far the better option.

Why usenet? Well to start with you just click and download whatever you want at the max speed your ISP can offer you. No ratios, no messing with an extra box, no hassle. It also costs about the same per month as a seedbox would.

Again, unless you’re after something specialized, check out my usenet tutorial and see if it will meet your needs better.

I’ve already tried Usenet, and in fact the wealth of content there is amazing. But I did find some “hassle” in the Usenet world, like files with some missing part, bogus files
(imagine download a file worth a lot of Gigabytes, only to find it was not what you were expecting at all), lack of overall information on the filenames (quality, bitrate, codecs, etc.), etc.
At least, the bittorrent indexers are a bit more organized and offer better information about the files I’m about to download. My current seedbox service costs 3 Euros per month (it’s cheaper than most Seedbox services I’ve searched for), the server downloads the torrent within minutes if it’s a well-seeded torrent, or some hours in the more obscure ones. I have not any issues with ratio, because I can reach the a ratio highter than 1.000 before actually finishing the download. As a matter of fact, as I usually don’t have to clear my active torrent list so fast, I let the ratio go up to more than 10.000 most of the time.

Overall, I think seedboxes are more easier to use than Usenet. Sorry if I missed some good aspect of Usenet. =)

Well, if you read my usenet tutorial http://technologyinsanity.com/internet/what-is-usenet-downloading-from-binary-newsgroups/

You see I recommend you use NZB sites like NZBMatrix, NZBsRus etc.. this pretty much fixes the problems you’re talking about. These sites are very similar to torrent indexers.
