Playing with Google Analytics

I just added Google analytics a day or two ago, so far it says this:

technologyinsanityanalytics1Most of my traffic comes from entrecard right now, I really need to get listed on Yahoo and MSN, but they’re taking their time again. I know the bots are on my site. I’m only getting about 15-20 visits/day from google. The rest is direct traffic/entrecard traffic.

What I’m mainly curious about is my bounce rate. I don’t get it, isn’t entrecard supposed to create a HIGH bounce rate? Are people blocking analytics or what? Just something I’m pondering. I hear most people get a 60% bounce rate or something like that when most of their traffic is from Entrecard. Entrecard traffic, according to analytics has a 4.00% bounce rate. Strange?

Yup this is strange. But perhaps you have been on ec for a while and now people stay on your site longer. Well I came for the first time from ec and have stayed for a while now. Maybe it goes to show that good content will be recognized.

Well, my site is only about 20 days old, and I think I’ve been on EC for a little less than that.. So my site’s still pretty young :)

Thanks for the great comments :)

I have 3 sites running; 2 of them have a lot of visitors of EC – the oldest one of them is now also getting a lot of visitors from google/yahoo/msn = it just takes some time (that one is already running since March this year.

The latest one of the 2 is like yours; about a month old – and gets close to NOTHING from google/yahoo/msn…. but ah – seems it needs some time….

Yea, it takes awhile to get established and get better search engine rankings. Some of the stuff I blog about is fairly unique so I get visitors from Google with those articles.

  5. I have been using Histats on my blogs for quite a while, but I plan to convert to Google Analytics over the Christmas break. From what I gather, the Google tracker can give you a pretty acurate look at where your Adsense and affiliate clicks are coming from. I’m a little nervous to make the switch, but I’m going to do it anyway.

Almost all my traffic comes from search engines. Just keep at it.

Looks like I’m added back onto Yahoo & MSN so that wasn’t too long of a wait since I made the domain switch. :)

I see something like %90 bounce rate on my entrecard blogs.

  9. s0uThp4rk says:

Yea, that’s why I kind of think something’s wrong. Oh well, who knows. My bounce rate has actually gone down rather than up, right now my average is 2.88% bounce rate.

Another thing is, I don’t really need Analytics much, it just provides data that’s a little different from what I see in webalyzer.

The bounce rate is very low. It is really strange…

Yea, I’m pretty sure analytics is giving me a false bounce rate for some reason.
