Entrecard – What you should know

You should know that people that are doing 300 Drops a day (like myself :D ) are not manually clicking through entrecard. Some have lists of people made up for their drops. My method is a little different, and I think maybe a little better, I don’t know. Timing is also important, the best time to drop is 12AM eastern. I don’t do this all the time, but I do it when I can. I need sleep just like everyone else :)   Depending on the times of my drops, I might just do today’s or I might do today’s and yesterdays. This is because when I drop at midnight, I know I won’t be missing anyone that dropped me that day. When I drop at 4PM or so, I would be missing people that dropped me the day before. Below is a short tutorial to show you how to get 300 drops done in about 20 minutes.

NoScript

NoScript is a plugin for FireFox that blocks all scripts on pages. You have to disable script blocking on entrecard.com and amazonaws.com

Next, you have to MAKE SURE that temporarily allow top-level sites by default is clicked. It was blocking entrecard still and I wondered why, this option makes that problem go away.

Firefox Settings

Go to Tools>Options>Content and add exceptions entrecard.com and amazonaws.com to the “Load images automatically” option. Then disable that optioin. Also uncheck “Enable Java”.

Linky

Linky is a plugin for firefox that allows you to select links from a page. First, what I do is go into my drops inbox and select all the people who have dropped me. Then I use linky to open all selected links in tabs.

I also drop randomly a lot, so I just go into campaign, select all the links in “New” , “Cheap” , or “Random” for about 12 rows. The only issue I have with that is I have to manually uncheck the details link, but I’ve been thinking about making an autoit script for that. The amount of tabs you can have will probably depend on how much RAM you have in your computer.

Note that I still browse blogs and drop comments after I’ve dropped my cards. I highly doubt anyone who drops 300 cards is doing everything manually, that would take an eternity :) I wouldn’t have anytime to blog or work on my site.

Let me know if I missed anything, this should be very similar to other guides out there, but I use linky instead of some other things people do. I have to thank nukeit.org for linky, I believe he mentioned it in one of his blog entries.

I use the firefox extensions you mentioned cept Linky.

I’ve only reached 300 once, everything dropped manually.

I just started doing 300 a day a few days ago. It’s not really that hard with this method. I do manually click the drop box, but having tabs open makes it easier. You could probably automate the whole process with a little scripting knowledge, but I like actually visiting the blogs and leaving a comment if something is interesting on it.

I’m actually starting to wonder if it really matters if I drop 300 a day or not. Doesn’t seem like it really helps much. Only difference is I made it to the front page of the technology category, but I’m thinking commenting on blogs might be better than dropping fanatically. I do try to comment on blogs, but not as much as I used to before I started dropping 300. If I could somehow manage to comment a lot and drop 300 I think that would be the best combination.

  4. I use linky also. I created a second Firefox profile for Entrecard use and just installed the few plugins (and fasterfox) that I needed. I am thinking about customizing it further, but this lets me also install the Entrecard toolbar without messing up my primary browser.

I manually dropped 300 for a while and you are right, it took up way too much time. Unfortunately there are too many Entrecard users that only drop from their inbox, so if you do not drop on them they will never visit your site. I did notice a dropoff in Entrecard traffic, but Entrecard isn’t the largest source of my traffic anymore, so it’s probably a good thing in the end.

The other plugin that I use in my lightweight Entrecard profile is Live PageRank. Taking a quick glance at it can give me extra incentive to make a comment on well ranked sites. I do take the time to make a comment on every recent post I see that evokes one from me. What I mean by that is that the post is interesting to me and either is opinionated enough, wrong enough, missing information, or is open ended enough to allow additional input. A few times recently I came across blogs that require me to sign in or own a blogger account to comment. Bad idea if you want comments. I got a bad taste in my mouth from one site recently that I typed up a comment for and then realized that I couldn’t submit it with just Name, Email, and Website.

Yea, traffic from sources other than entrecard is better anyway. I also had difficulties when trying to leave comments on certain blogs.

I might have to try out live pagerank, could be useful. Thanks for stopping by :)
