Why the Blog has Grown Silent

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Mostly it’s due to the fact I’m usually busy working or relaxing. I am a full time affiliate marketer, so I work on campaigns quite often. This takes a lot of time to test, split test, make sure it’s profitable, finding traffic sources, etc. It’s just time consuming. I do try to keep myself away from work on the weekends but a lot of the time I still work even then.

I was going to launch a new blog that focuses completely on making money online, but really I don’t think I have time for it. So, if I feel like I have time to blog about it in the future — I’ll launch it, but as of right now it’s not going to happen. I don’t intend to be JohnChow or Shoemoney, and probably not ppc.bz. (the only real affiliate marketing blog I’ve found..) It’ll be my own style if I decide to go down that route.

I’ll continue to blog about tech on here when I get the chance or I get a new device :)

New Logo, New Theme

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I just put this up yesterday if you noticed, unless this is your first time here. The last theme had an issue where it would look completely messed up with certain browser settings, and I don’t want that.

Please put your input in the comments area, and I will search for another theme if the comments are primarily negative. Thanks :)

Some Site Updates and Announcements

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I like to get comments on my blog, and my search engine traffic really doesn’t seem to do that for me, so I will be going back to Entrecard and dropping 300 a day again. Entrecard users, it might be a good time to buy my ad, before it goes sky high as I see it’s sitting at 64ec right now :) Also, please join the forums if you can, having only a few members makes us all lonely :(

Be aware however that I am not professional in any way on the forums. Many humorous or NSFW things are posted in the chat section. Check it out here: http://technologyinsanity.com/forum/

Also, there is a running contest for free ad space on my site for registered users of the forum, check it out here: http://technologyinsanity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=13.

That should be about it. Hopefully I’ll see you in the forums. :)

Too Much SPAM

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

1559606_340_1116081430036-spamI really don’t know what to do at this point. I’m running BadBehavior, and I’ve tried some other spam blocking plugins, but it doesn’t seem to work. I am still getting about 5 spam comments a day. Without BadBehavior running, I had over 50 spam comments in one day. What am I supposed to do? Manually looking through all these spam comments is annoying to say the least, many of them are disguised as real comments.

This is why I am seriously considering turning off comments on this blog. Don’t worry, comments will still function, however they will be on the forum instead of directly under the post. This first post is a trial to see how it works out. I could restrict comments to only wordpress registered users, or install other captchas for comments. However, I have been looking to expand my forum a little bit, and overall it’s easier to manage.

How is it easier? The captcha is a decent one already integrated into phpBB, which allows guests to post. I also think that the forum gives a clearer view of the discussion, rather than a bunch of comments.

You will be allowed to place your website url in your signature, if you register or in your comment if you post as a guest.

The posts will go like this, I will have a direct link to the forums at the bottom of every post, and at the forums comments will take place. No registration is required.  If I get zero comments I will consider rolling back, and trying out captchas on the comments. I know some of you may not like this, but realize it makes it easier for me.
