Are You Ready For USB 3.0

Last Week, Freecom Announced its Latest Hard Drive XS 3.0 at IDF in San Francisco. It Is the First external hard drive in the world with Super speed USB 3.0 Technology.USB 3.0 is the next generation technology in the field of USB Connectivity that offers much fastest connection speed and high data transfer rate than what we are getting from our USB2.0 ports.

Freecom is the first Company to Implement USB 3.0 in its devices. The Data transfer Rate of XS 3.0 would be ten times more than USB 2.0 device which is really great to transfer and take back up of large amount of Data very easily. The Hard Drive current data transfer speed is 130 MB per second as compared to USB 2.0 Data transfer Rate 480 Mbits per second. The estimate time this drive will take to transfer 10 GB file would be 1 minute 16 seconds.

USB3.0 will achieve the high Transfer data rate due to many technical changes. The First change which is made in USB 3.0   is an additional physical bus in parallel to the existing USB 2.0 bus. Due to which where USB 2.0 was having only two pairs data transfer USB 3.0 has four pairs which support the SuperSpeed USB target bandwidth requirements. Furthermore USB 3.0 supports bi-directional data transfer as compared to USB 2.0’s half-duplex arrangement, where data can only flow in one direction at a time. USB 3.0 won’t only provide the high data transfer.

The transfer rate of USB 3.0 is still much less than the expected data transfer rate of 500 MB per second which was promised by the USB Implementers Forum. According to Freecom, the Data transfer rate could be increased in future as lot of developments need to be made in USB 3.0 Technology.

USB 3.0 won’t only provide the high data transfer rate but also will improve the interaction between device and host computer. USB 3.0 will have better power management features for power saving and charging devices.USB 3.0 devices will go to virtual sleep mode when not being used making your system more power efficient.

According to Company, USB 3.0 will work with the forthcoming systems with USB 3.0 interface and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 Ports. However, to take the full advantage of High Data transfer rate of USB 3.0 users need USB 3.0 controller card. Freecom USB 3.0 controller card will cost 25.95 Euros for desktop and 29.95 Euros for notebook.

Hard Drive XS3.0 would be available by Mid November in Europe in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB sizes with an easily affordable prices starting at 175 USD for 1 TB. Freecom did not make any comment on when the drive would be available to buy in other regions except Europe.

The Future of USB 3.0 is very bright. By 2010 the motherboards compatible with USB3.0 will be available. According to USB-IF, the standard could be easily implemented to other devices like digital cameras and flash drives depending on the cost considerations.

The Most Important Variable in AdWords: QS

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Okay, so you start a campaign and you get a 3/10 QS. Can you get it to go higher? You bet. How? Easy, just create 3-5 different text ads and find the one with the highest CTR and delete the rest. I do this all the time anyway, even when I start out with a high QS. Sometimes, Google doesn’t like my LP or something and I’m slapped at 3/10 before I even start.

What I do when I’m sitting at 3/10 QS is split test my3-5 text ads and work on the LP to maximize CTR on it. I spend something like $32 on the campaign for 32 clicks. Not a good deal, but the next day I deactivate poor performing ads and keep the one with the highest CTR and usually at that point, my keywords are sitting at 7/10 QS. At that point I can sometimes lower the bid all the way from $1 to $.10.

QS can REALLY affect your ROI. The lesson here is just to ALWAYS split test text ads and get a high CTR going on, because even if you start out with a high QS, if you don’t split test and get a high CTR your QS will drop. CTR IS the most important factor. I rarely pay attention to anything else. Then you optimize the LP for CTR. (To the offer)

Just a bit of AdWords advice.

My Experience With Affiliate Networks So Far

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I’m a member of three affiliate networks currently, MarketLeverage, COPEAC, and Clickbooth. What’s my experience with each of them?

MarketLeverage – VERY quick payments, I mean usually I get payment on the 14th or 15th because they FedEx payments. I’m thinking about driving MUCH more traffic to them because they seem to have fairly stable converting offers, and the best payment time. I’m working on a few campaigns for them, and I might try to push myself over $1K per week to get weekly payments. Currently I’ve only made about $2.5K with them.

COPEAC – Some interesting exclusive offers, but overall they seem to have a lot of what other networks have. Still, they’re definitely a good network to have. My first payment from them was delayed quite a bit because I had to send in my ID. No idea why, but other than that no issues with them at all.

ClickBooth – Some really nice exclusive offers, I’ve actually made a thousand or so off of one offer because it converted so well. Payments arrived as expected everytime. I would recommend them to others. They seem to have a bit of a bad reputation on places like WickedFire, but whatever happened was a long time ago and I think they’re fine now. I’ve actually made the most with them.

I’m thinking about going out and joining some more networks to find some more highly profitable campaigns, but really so far in Affiliate Marketing, I have had no bad experiences with networks. Of course, that may be because I chose networks that did have a reputation and not some “unknown” network. All three of these networks are awesome, so check them out.

Dot CM Domains Go Live

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

On Sept 18th the Dot CM domains went live to the public. Right now anyone can register a DOT CM domain. Of course, they are costly at about $105 per year. I picked up two domains, one was just a  personal thing.  I got Dylan.CM because that is my first name.

Lots of people are picking these up for typos if you look at Facebook.cm or MySpace.cm they seem to go to some sort of CPA offer.

I think I’ll setup some email on Dylan.cm and forward it to my technologyinsanity address. When talking to people, it would be a lot easier to give out. Other than that, I might setup some kind of web page on it, but right now it just forwards to TechnologyInsanity. It’s kind of hard to get Dylan dot anything they seem to be going for over $1K for most other domains. I don’t know if Dylan dot cm is worth above $105, but it’s possible.

You might be able to still snag some good ones, mainly because people are afraid of buying this ccTLD, plus the registration fee is quite high.

However, there was quite a few dot cm domains that fetched a high price, check this out: Dot CM Auctions. (however, these prices are VERY low in comparison of what the dot com versions would go for.. I think Sex.com would go for millions.)

If you’re wondering why it is dot CM, it stands for the African country Cameroon.
